The day we stood tall in the face of a monster.
12 months is scarcely enough time to have fully licked the wounds inflicted from Australia’s fiercest and most well remembered beast.
A year on, most Victorian communities are still reeling from the effects of what has become known as Black Saturday, the single most tragic natural disaster in our nation’s tentative history; a day that will be marked on the calendars of most rural Victorian families as a way of remembering the moment that our hearts broke in unison.
To mark this special occasion, three runners, exceptional friends who all have been touched by the events of February 7 2009, will embark on a quest to run 210km around Victoria’s Corio Bay in an effort to raise money for the various charities and organisations still working fevourishly to clean up the devastation left by the bushfires of early 2009.
Every donation, no matter how small or insignificant it seems, will help effected Victorian families recover from their losses, and help pay for preventative equipment that will stop the kind of devastation felt on Black Saturday from ever happening again.
To donate, simply use the Donation tool below.
You can also find the Black Saturday Run on facebook, so please follow the link and share the page with your friends and loved ones; help us make the run effective, poignant and respectful as the anniversary of this tragic event deserves.
Thank you.
